Just because I didn’t do the giveaway this week, doesn’t mean I don’t still have a portrait for the week style for sale! Our beloved 2nd Irish Setter (who was a bit mad in the head, truth be known) was my style inspiration. Our beloved Bat Dog (or “Murphy the Legend,” as Beldoe insists on calling him) now lives in a forest in Illinois, thanks to Save our Setters, who were able to place him with a single male when we could no longer offer him a safe home for his issues.
Over a year ago, we knew we couldn’t keep him any longer & it killed us. He bit me a few times, and then snapped at Sneaky! He only ever respected Beldoe, having come from an abused home when he was a puppy. We knew these things going in, we tried lots of rehabilitation/training/love, and it still wasn’t enough for him. Finding him a home without children, or women, out of the suburbs, was top priority; and placing him where he’d find the forever home we had wanted to be for him. And, thanks to SOS, Murphy’s perfect match, lives a full mile off the road!!! Woods everywhere! Deer legs to gnaw on. No cars to traumatize him with. And no children to taunt him. It was perfect and the best end to a sad story for us (people who have NEVER thought they’d have to rehome a dog! EVER!) We also bet if our existing Setter knew where he’d ended up, he’d pack his puppy bags and set off to join him! LOL! It’s exactly the home Murph needed, after the trying life he’d had. We are so incredibly grateful for the help of SOS, though, truth be told, we miss that fluffy idiot so incredibly much – every single day! And I still have a list that goes on for days of ALL the ways in which he dismantled our lives, in the three short years he lived with us. We miss you so much, Batty boy!

& in case you thought he was pretty sneaky there, here’s the trick he mastered a few months before he left us. I’m pretty sure he cost us a couple hundred dollars in grocery bills too. His favourite foods to sneak: yogurts, cat food cans, packages of stewing beef, and containers of cream. 105lbs, he was. From his good eatin’. His foster Mom had to bungee cord shut her fridge too, because within a day, he’d mastered how to open that one too! ROTFL! And yes, our other wolf is opening his cabinet of toys, in the background.
